SCWI Cycle 5 Changes for 2013-14

RPT Chairs & Co-ordinators:

The purpose of this message is to advise that the EDCS website is now "open" for your Cycle 5 contract change requests. The deadline for these requests is 1:00 p.m. on February 24th.

Note that if you are cancelling a program, please use a "0" (zero) in the amount columnand do not delete the line or page completely. This allows us to follow your funding amounts more easily. Also, please note that we are not aware at this time of any significant changes coming forward that would create the availability of "new" funding, so please make your requests "funding neutral".

Dual Credit Course Code Requests

RPT Chairs & Co-ordinators:

As you know, we indicated earlier that the next deadline for dual credit course code requests is March 18. We are concerned that if we don’t get requests until that date, it will be difficult for OnSIS to get revised lists out to the system in time for the data deadline for District school boards of March 31. Requests that have been received since the last list that went out in December have been forwarded to OnSIS and are being processed. If any remaining new requests for course codes for the 2013-14 school year could be submitted by March 5, we should be able to get revised lists out to the system in time for schools to input these courses as part of their board’s regular data submission.

Student Panel for SCWI Symposium

RPT Chairs & Co-ordinators:

Preparations for this year's annual SCWI Symposium are coming along very well. Many thanks to those of you who have agreed to assist in the presentations. At this point, all of the workshop presenters have been contacted by their Liaison Team member.

Historically, we have had a panel of students talk about their experiences in SWAC and/or in Dual Credits, and how this has changed their lives.

These sessions are always well-attended. The Symposium planning committee has discussed this option and today I am asking on their behalf if there is anyone who would like to bring a student panel to the Symposium for a workshop session.

If you would like to have a small group of your students present in this fashion, please contact Diane Cowden: dmcowden100@sympatico.ca. Diane will send you a workshop description form to complete.

SCWI 2014-15 Approvals

RPT Chairs & Co-ordinators:

Many thanks to all of you and your partners for the excellent submissions in response to the SCWI Request for Proposals for 2014-15. On behalf of the SCWI team it is my pleasure to inform you that the results of your submissions may be viewed on EDCS later this morning.

Congratulations to everyone for your fine efforts!

Please note that those RPTs who submitted requests for Level 1 Apprenticeship programs with seat purchase from TCU for which the signed seat purchase document had not been received by the deadline will find that those programs have not been approved. If the signed form has been submitted since the deadline, these programs will be considered for approval during Cycle 1 of the Change Process for 2014-15.

Cycle 1 change requests for 2014-15 may be entered on EDCS from May 6th to 22nd at 1:00 pm.

The formal contract letters for 2014-15 will be sent to you for signature in the coming weeks.

Invitation to Final Reporting Webinar

In order to assist with the use of the online Final Report submission process, online training will be offered. The focus will be on the completion of the online Final Report – both the data report and the financial report. Chairs are encouraged to invite others from their RPTs who will be involved in the completion of the online Final Report.

  • Wednesday, April 30 from 1:30pm to 2:30pm
  • Thursday, May 1 from 10:00am to 11:00am

EDCS User Login Access Request Form

RPT Chairs and Co-Chairs,

Please find attached the Secure Access Registration Form for the EDCS website for use by those members of your RPT who need access to EDCS.

To apply for an individual User ID, Sections 1A, 1B and 2 will need to be completed.

Under step 3 of section 2 there are three types of logins to select from:

  • User – Read only
  • Coordinator – Add, update & delete
  • Administrator – Add, update, delete and sign-off

Once these sections are filled in, have the applicants send this form to you as RPT Chair and/or Co-Chair to complete the Authorizer’s Acknowledgment portion under section 2.

RPT Chairs and Co-Chairs, by completing section 2 you are authorizing that the individual identified in section 1 should be granted access to the EDCS website for your RPT.

Once all user logins are in place and we are confident that they are successful, the current universal RPT logins will be deactivated. The date of this deactivation will be communicated to all RPTs.

Completed and signed English language forms can be sent to Alisha Bhanji at: Alisha.Bhanji@ontario.cano later than 4:00pm on Friday, June 20th 2014.

The French-language instructions and form will follow.

SCWI Summer Institute August 25, 26

Subject: SCWI Summer Institute August 25th and 26th REMINDER...MONDAY, JUNE 30th is the deadline to register for the Summer Institute!

RPT Chairs & Co-ordinators:

Get ready for the 2014-15 school year, by joining the SCWI/EDU/TCU team to:

  • Enhance your understanding of policies related to dual credits
  • Enhance your understanding of EDCS and the extracts and reports that can be generated through hands-on activities
  • Use your 2013-14 data to make data-informed decisions that can lead to program enhancement
  • Network with RPT members from across the province

Who should attend? Anyone involved in a leadership or administrative role on a Regional Planning Team. Board and college representatives on RPTs who are interested in learning more about the SCWI are most welcome. New RPT members are strongly encouraged to take part.

The event will be held at the Intercontinental Hotel (Bloor Street, Toronto) http://www.toronto.intercontinental.com/

A block of rooms has been reserved for Sunday and Monday night at $189.00/night. Individuals will need to make reservations by contacting the Reservations Department 416-324-5900 or 1-800-267-0010. Please identify yourself as a participant of the group CODE-SCWI Summer Institute and quote block code LG5 to receive that rate. Reservation due date Friday July 25th, 2014. SCWI will pay for lunch and snacks on Monday and Tuesday.

Schedule:

  • Registration opens at 11:45am on August 25th, 2014
  • Lunch will be available at 12:00
  • The session runs from 1:00 – 4:00 on August 25th and 9:00 – 2:30 on August 26th

Please RSVP by completing the attached Registration Form and emailing it to Janette Jensen janette@opsoa.org by June 30, 2014. If you have new team members who you would like to register, please indicate in an email to Janette that a registration will follow.

This will be a hands-on event. To fully participate in the activities, please bring the following:

  • A laptop computer (not a tablet) that can access the internet through a wireless connection. Please test your laptop to ensure that you can access the EDCS website (https://www.gsa.gov.on.ca/). You will also need Excel installed.
  • Your RPT’s current EDCS login and password
  • A copy of your RPT’s 2013-14 SMART goal report
  • Your copy of Dual Credit Programs: Policy and Program Requirements

SCWI Approval Activities Forums, Provincial Summary for Dates/Times/Locations

RPT Chairs and Co-ordinators:

Attached you will find an Excel spreadsheet (in pdf format) of all the approved SCWI Activities and Forums for 2014 -2015 year. We have taken this information from the EDCS website.

SCWI plans to record the date, time, location, etc for each of your approved activities and forums. The completed list will then be posted on the scwi/iject websites available to all those interested in these activities and forums.

Each RPT is requested to identify "Date/Time/Location/Contact Person & E-mail address" for each activity/forum. Please list your activities and forums by number with the date/time/location, etc. and forward this information to Bill Jack billjack@rogers.com so that the lists may be consolidated and placed on the websites.

The deadline for this information is September 5th.

EDCS User Logins

RPT Chairs and Co-Charis,

I hope you are all enjoying your summer!

Please share the following information with the members of your RPT:

Individuals who have submitted an application for a unique EDCS login will begin to receive a user name and temporary password email from our IT team over the summer. Once you receive your email from IT you will need to wait 48hrs to actually log onto the EDCS website with it. The emails actually get sent to the users before the accounts are actually activated for use. If you try and login after 48hrs of receiving the email from IT and your login does not work please let me know.

Please continue to use your generic RPT login until your personal login is up and running.
